save me from my muse i dunno what drives the crazy little bitch, but now on top of Redemption, a Dauntless fic that Windfire and i have pulled out of the Box of Unfinished Fics(tm), and the Shakaar/Cady backstory, she is throwing a FOURTH idea at me!! this one is destined to be Odo/Kira...and i haven't finished a fic with them since Kira's Prayer, going on ten years ago. tho muse is also poking me to finish another O/K from the Box of Unfinished Fics titled I Will Follow You, a post-Reckoning introspective. ( chazpure may vaguely recall this one as i asked for help the first time around when i got stuck. unfortunately, it still never went anywhere at the time.) at any rate...this one was driven by another song that i'm addicted to: Delerium's "Underwater", with Rani Kamal on lead vocals. the lyrics have suggested to the muse the ever-useful plot point of strange dreams. in this case, a recurring nightmare Kira has about drowning starts to turn into...something else. and playing w the idea of making the Founder Bitch (Salome Jens' female Founder, that is) just a touch nastier than she was in canon. where does she get these ideas?? Current Mood: being driven crazy by museCurrent Music: Delerium feat. Rani Kamal, "Underwater" | | Monday, June 2nd, 2008 | | 1:13 am |
what i'm up to lately for the non-fandom stuff, see my LJ. in fandom, well... last fall, Katesfire came to me asking for some help with a sequel to her J/C story Rejection. Cori had asked for a sequel because Janeway was pregnant at the end and she just wanted to see those baby twins. with my famous last words being "have it be ON Cardassia!", we ate, breathed and slept the plot and produced the dramatic adventure that came to be titled Retribution. as we were coming down off our high and enjoying the feedback of happy readers, KF wondered aloud if there might be a followup to this. the word "redemption" popped into my head. all i could think was here we go again.... Redemption is now slowly in the works. i have finished the prologue and i'm attempting to pull chapter one out of the muse, piece by piece. when she isn't chewing on her OTHER tangents. the latest: i decided for Redemption that it was high time that Shakaar be married. i thought for the hell of it she should be human and not Bajoran and named her Cady. mentally adding that she had a xenophobic family that disowned her for being involved with Shakaar gave the muse something to run with....and in a direction i was NOT planning in the least. i'm now writing the Shakaar/Cady backstory in addition to Redemption. me....who used to loathe Shakaar (well okay, that was my Odo/Kira fangirl pitching a bitch). and i'm now writing a fic about him?! hell has got to be freezing over. i don't expect anyone to read it--i'm mostly writing it to get the muse to shut the flying fuck up about it, but if anyone else enjoys it when it's done, i'll take that as a bonus. ( a sneak peek on Redemption for the interested )and a sneak peek into the muse's crazyness too. background plot: Cady's family is run by her grandfather Nelson, a hateful, xenophobic type. Cady is working for two months as an aide to Melisande Dumas, who is hosting a (reason undecided) diplomatic summit somewhere in the French countryside at an ancient villa/palace with huge grounds attached. Melisande is a friend of the family that Nelson can't afford to offend, hence he has no choice but to allow his granddaughter to work for two months around aliens. one night after dinner, Melisande gets drunk and pisses Cady off. she leaves to go take a walk.... The Prophecy [PG, Paris, Paris/Torres] the department of backstory: summer 1997. the unique and wild ride also known as the Paris/Torres relationship was just beginning to bloom, much to the delight of the P/T fen. However at the time, there was very little backstory info on either Tom or B'Elanna. Due to the way Tom spoke about his father, many presumed Owen was either abusive or simply expected too much from his only son. I explored this idea in a few stories, but in others, such as "Dark Surroundings" and this one, there was no need for bastard!Owen. Title: The Prophecy Rating: PG Pairings: Paris/Torres Warnings: none References/spoilers: "Caretaker" Summary: While at a fair with his family, sixteen year old Tom Paris is approached by a fortune-teller. What she reveals might someday be reality.... Legal B.S.: Star Trek Voyager is owned by Paramount. None of it's mine....except for the strangeness of my muse. ;) ( It will be many years before you meet she who is your soulmate. Even then, it will take more years for you to know that she is the one.... ) Current Mood: busyCurrent Music: Dido, "White Flag" | | Thursday, September 6th, 2007 | | 10:46 pm |
In Tempo [NC-17, Janeway/Chakotay, one-shot] the department of backstory: every pairing has its "cliches"--episodes, moments or mentions that ends up producing a shitload of fic and, in some cases, is an obligatory "challenge" to every author who writes for said pairing. in the smut vein, that always includes sex in daring places. and in the Trekverse, the turbolifts are always a prime spot for the action. especially on Voyager, where the convenient excuse of them breaking down one way or another is ever so handy. this is admittedly one of my better NC-17 writings, at least to me. your opinion may vary. Title: In Tempo Rating: NC-17 Pairings: Janeway/Chakotay Warnings: sex for the hell of it References/spoilers: small reference to fifth season's "Night" Summary: It's just another routine day...til Kathryn and Chakotay get stuck in a stalled turbolift.... Legal B.S.: Star Trek Voyager is owned by Paramount. None of it's mine....except my wish that was never fulfilled...the Captain and Commander in a love affair. ;) ( I think Q had a point--you're beautiful when you're angry ) Current Mood: restlessCurrent Music: Wolf's Rain, "Stray" | | Sunday, September 2nd, 2007 | | 8:29 pm |

Falling Into You [PG, J/C, one-shot, songfic] the department of backstory: i've loved Celine Dion since i was in junior high. and JetCers 'round the world were screaming in glee when Janeway got her "Dear John" letter in the ep "Hunters". of course TPTB did nothing with said opportunity :eyeroll: but that's why they were renamed the Idiots in Charge. :smirk: for anyone curious about the Carey/Wildman hints seen throughout my stuff: when the Parisites were an active group, we had a member named Claire from Florida. she was a big fan of Josh Clark and was mock grumpy that he didn't get enough screen time as Lieutenant Joe Carey, B'Elanna's second in command in engineering. somehow she decided that the perfect woman for Carey was science officer Ensign Samantha Wildman. there wasn't enough to write whole stories on them (tho i tried and failed a couple times) so i did my best to stick them in where i could as a minor pairing, just to tickle Claire. Title: Falling Into You Rating: PG Pairings: Janeway/Chakotay, mentioned Paris/Torres, Kim/Seven and Carey/Wildman Warnings: mush! References/spoilers: fourth season's "Hunters" Legal B.S.: Star Trek Voyager is owned by Paramount. None of it's mine....except my wish that was never fulfilled...the Captain and Commander in a love affair. ;) ( Now I have learned...love can't be made in fear. ) Current Mood: nostalgicCurrent Music: Celine Dion, "Falling Into You" | | Friday, August 31st, 2007 | | 11:01 pm |
Fields of Gold [PG, Janeway/Chakotay, one-shot] the department of backstory: not having such resources as LJ with places to learn more about fandom, i wrote A LOT of songfics. a song i liked would give me a mental picture (like B'Elanna walking in the snow inspiring "Snowy Kessik Mornings" from repeated listening to Tori Amos' "Winter") and it would just snowball from there. i suppose i also committed the "crime" of naming a character after a friend. Ute K., a German JetCer, is a fabulous artist and did some of the most beautiful drawings of Kathryn and Chakotay (separately and together) that i had ever seen. her best friend, Anneke A., was the one who hooked her on Voyager and J/C, hence the dedication. looking back, my interpretation of Kathryn is not-quite-right. i feel better with Chakotay's dialogue than Kathryn's. you, dear reader, be the judge. Title: Fields of Gold Rating: PG Pairings: Janeway/Chakotay, implied Paris/Torres and Riker/Troi Warnings: mush!, character death mention References/spoilers: Jeri Taylor's MosaicLegal B.S.: Star Trek Voyager is owned by Paramount. None of it's mine....except my wish that was never fulfilled...the Captain and Commander in a love affair. ;) ( You'll remember me...when the west wind moves, upon the fields of barley ) Current Mood: hotCurrent Music: Sting, "Fields of Gold" | | 12:27 am |
Dark Surroundings [PG, Paris/Torres, one-shot, challenge fic] the department of backstory: i responded to a challenge put up by the archivist/owner of the Paris/Torres Collective site posted after the episode "One": "Just how claustrophobic is Tom, and why?" other respondees used such angles as an incident during Tom's Maquis days or battling deadly diseases as a child. i, given a lifetime living on fault lines in this lovely state of California and San Francisco's history of violent earthquakes, chose to blame nature. ;) Title: Dark Surroundings Rating: PG Pairings: Paris/Torres, a bit of Harry/Seven Warnings: some Tom angst References/spoilers: "One" Legal B.S.: Star Trek Voyager is owned by Paramount. None of it's mine....except for my muse's sometimes batshit ideas. ( I just don't like small, dark places, okay? ) Current Mood: exhaustedCurrent Music: Wolf's Rain soundtrack, "Stray" | | 12:08 am |
Nightfall [PG, Paris, P/T, one-shot] the department of backstory: way back when i was active on the PTFever mailing list, there was an older lady named Phyllis, whose moniker (using her initials) was PJs. when another lady named Pam joined sometime later, she also used the initials PJ, but was PJ in NH. eventually they dubbed each other Senior (PJs) and Junior (PJ in NH). PJs wrote some awesome poetry. i enjoyed reading it all (especially considering i suck ass at poetry), but it wasn't til one spring week when i was suffering from a major cold that coincided with her producing an angst poem from Tom Paris' POV titled "Nightfall". i read it to put me to sleep the first few nights. night five or six with a clogged head rolled around and despite dosing myself with NyQuil, it was nearly 3am and i could not sleep. so i figured i'd try to write. with a copy of PJs' "Nightfall" and a full box of Kleenex at hand came this one-shot. Title: Nightfall Rating: PG Pairings: Paris/Torres Warnings: Tom angst References/spoilers: post-fourth season implied Legal B.S.: Star Trek Voyager is owned by Paramount. None of it's mine....except for my muse's sometimes batshit ideas. author's notes below the cut ( I don't mind the days...it is the nights I dread.... ) Current Mood: exhaustedCurrent Music: Wolf's Rain soundtrack, "Stray" | | Wednesday, August 29th, 2007 | | 2:07 am |
Snowy Kessik Mornings [P/T, PG, one-shot] not sure what to say....other than oh my God, this story is OLD. ten years old to be precise. file has it dated November 25, 1997. :boggle: the department of backstory for anyone who cares: before JK ever thought of Harry Potter. before Jerry Bruckheimer ever thought of Cold Case. before i ever considered touching a soap opera. and not long before i got into LJS fandom....this is part of my beginnings. behold the makings of Che, the rabid Paris/Torres fangirl, and the musings of a muse that kept me up many a night. Title: Snowy Kessik Mornings Rating: PG Pairings: Paris/Torres, implied Janeway/Chakotay (one whole line, heh) Warnings: mild B'Elanna angst...that's about it. References/spoilers: Michael Jan Friedman's "Day of Honor" novel Legal B.S.: Star Trek Voyager is owned by Paramount. Tori Amos owns her song. None of it's mine....except for my muse's sometimes batshit ideas. author notes below the cut. the evolution of character loves i just realized this fifteen mins ago.... i SHOULD HAVE KNOWN i'd change my mind about being a Draco fangirl. why, you ask? it's a habit (of sorts). ever since i was about twelve, i've found blond, light-eyed (usually blue, but i'll take other light eye colors) men attractive. even my first crush was a blue-eyed blond (and no further words about THAT idiot). though i have no issues with (and have had fangirl crushes) on dark-colored guys. but i almost always go for the blonds. Voyager's Tom Paris....tried to hide his hurts behind the attitude of the century. DS9's Odo....a lonely soul who longed to belong--and wanted one thing above all--his Nerys. Andromeda's Seamus Harper....survived seven kinds of hell under Nietzschean slavery, the poster boy for angsty fics. and now Draco Malfoy....the arrogant Pureblood with more secrets than you can count. there's something about blonds, i tell ya.... and i think i need to go to bed, cuz it's 1:10. oy...
