How many stories is the series going to be?
That right now, I haven't decided. If I'm able to finish it, I see at least seven stories, perhaps eight. So in essence, you could say the series is half completed.
What's the point of the rainbow anyway?
I read Jeri Taylor's Mosaic over and over again, and loved the relationship between Kathryn and her father. I created Edward Janeway's "rainbow tale" in order to have a unique way to bring Kathryn and Chakotay together.
Where did you get Kearstin and Cheyenne's names?
At the time I thought up the idea for a story (Two Become One was SUPPOSED to be a one-shot...the muse had OTHER ideas!!), I was babysitting for a couple named Melissa and Bryan. There were three children--five-year-old Dillon (Melissa's son from a previous relationship), two-and-a-half-year-old Kearstin and one-year-old Cheyenne. Melissa was a blue-eyed redhead. Bryan had light brown hair and dark brown eyes. The girls ended up with their mother's hair and their father's eyes. One look and of course my insane brain went "oh look! J/C kids!" After taking pictures of all the kids one late fall day, I scanned them in and uploaded them, then for the hell of it, put one of the Kearstin photos on a private page between promo shots of Beltran and Mulgrew. the resemblance was mind-blowing. after sharing it with some friends and giggling over "hey look! Janeway and Chakotay's love child!", the muse decided that Two Become One would instead launch a series--and not just be a one-shot. hence the Kathryn's Rainbow saga was born.
