Dark Surroundings [PG, Paris/Torres, one-shot, challenge fic]

the department of backstory: i responded to a challenge put up by the archivist/owner of the Paris/Torres Collective site posted after the episode "One": "Just how claustrophobic is Tom, and why?" other respondees used such angles as an incident during Tom's Maquis days or battling deadly diseases as a child. i, given a lifetime living on fault lines in this lovely state of California and San Francisco's history of violent earthquakes, chose to blame nature. ;)

Nightfall [PG, Paris, P/T, one-shot]

the department of backstory: way back when i was active on the PTFever mailing list, there was an older lady named Phyllis, whose moniker (using her initials) was PJs. when another lady named Pam joined sometime later, she also used the initials PJ, but was PJ in NH. eventually they dubbed each other Senior (PJs) and Junior (PJ in NH).

PJs wrote some awesome poetry. i enjoyed reading it all (especially considering i suck ass at poetry), but it wasn't til one spring week when i was suffering from a major cold that coincided with her producing an angst poem from Tom Paris' POV titled "Nightfall". i read it to put me to sleep the first few nights. night five or six with a clogged head rolled around and despite dosing myself with NyQuil, it was nearly 3am and i could not sleep. so i figured i'd try to write. with a copy of PJs' "Nightfall" and a full box of Kleenex at hand came this one-shot.
