last summer, i joined the Omega Sector forum. among its many members are many excellent fic writers. in recent months, i've had time to delve into some of that fic. one of the most enjoyable reads i've had is Glenn's (board name: Captain Archer) Discovery series. it reads like a well written series on the air and sometimes there are plot twists with shades of the best of DS9.

Premise:
The year is 2372. One of the furthest outposts of the Federation, Starbase 499 in the Sirrustra System, is under attack. Literally at the edge of known space, deep within the uncharted Beta Quadrant, they are alone and calling for help. Scrambled to render aid, the newly-constructed USS Discovery NCC-76240 is pushed out of Spacedock early, and her young Captain must pull his disjointed crew together to meet a faceless enemy and explore the unknown...

i can't say enough good about this series. Glenn could teach the sucky writers that ruined most of the latter half of Voyager a thing or 47 about to properly write Trek. in other words, just read it, LOL.

i've always wanted to do those fanfic100 or fic50 things where you have a chart with words or phrases and you have to write stories based around each but i always fear i'd never be able to make it through the whole gorram list. :P at least not in sticking to ONE fandom. BLAH.

tho it would be interesting to do it for the monster story's cast....sort of a challenge. maybe once it is "published" i could do that. hmm.

and now to go finish dorking with Odo and the angry little six year old that is a part of the cycle above, haha.
